I am a qualified BACP registered psychotherapist with over 10 year’s experience.
I offer warm, accepting and non-judgemental, confidential one to one counselling gently encouraging to explore the issues that have brought you to counselling and provide support to bring about change. The first step can be daunting but I believe caring for our own wellbeing is an important part of self development.
I am an integrative therapist drawing on Psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), working with issues such as relationship difficulties, anger, low self esteem and self confidence, stress, depression, shame, loss, bereavement and anxiety.
I like working creatively with dreams, images and art. I offer specialist expertise in looking at multicultural issues, especially those faced by someone from a different ethnic and cultural background looking to integrate into British society. I can also offer counselling in Hindi and Bengali.
I am a qualified BACP registered integrative counsellor/therapist, an organizational psychologist and coach. I am also currently in my final year of a Doctor in Counselling Psychology. I work with individuals (adults and young people), helping them with addictions, anxiety, depression and panic attacks, anger & stress management, bereavement and loss, chronic fatigue, eating disorders, relationship problems, self-development, trauma and work/career/school related issues. I work in private practice, in the NHS and the voluntary sector.
Therapy is a journey of self-discovery - it can be both a practical and creative process; exploring thoughts, feeling and behavioural patterns, in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. Its main aim is to improve people’s sense of well-being, alleviate distress, resolve concerns, increase capacity to problem-solve, build resilience and make decisions.
I aim to combine my inspiration and creativity with knowledge and pragmatism to support individuals live more fulfilling and purposeful lives. I adopt an integrative approach to psychotherapy and counselling due to the uniqueness of each person and their presenting issues and concerns. I integrate a range of theories and approaches; from psychodynamic, humanistic, body-based, self-psychology, cognitive behavioural methods and Mindfulness practice. However, at the heart of my practice is the principle of relationship between therapist and client.
I specialise in working with adult survivors of physical, emotional and sexual abuse and addictions. I am also a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist (MA) and clinical hypnotherapist. I work for the Priory Hospital group on psychiatric outpatients unit and also teach counselling psychology at Roehampton University.
I use traditional psychotherapy techniques, teaching coping mechanisms, historic awareness, and also use EMDR. EMDR is internationally recognised as a highly effective and fast treatment for anxiety, phobias, depression and relational difficulties that arise from traumatic circumstances in a persons history (know as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
PTSD can arise from a childhood that was neglectful, a violent partner, a catastrophic incident/s that leaves an 'imprint', an ongoing difficult relationship, sexual, emotional or physical abuse.
I am married with three children, living locally. My hobbies include arts, music and sports. I compose music and I have worked with musicians of repute in the past. I am also very interested in anthropology and mythology and their relevance to the healing traditions.
